History: There is a wikia for this series, but it has very incomplete summaries, so!

The series opens with Mafuyu Kurosaki, an ordinary girl who is just starting her first year of high school. Making her high-school debut, Mafuyu is set on making a good first impression and being the ultra-shiny, most-popular high school girl.

Or at least, that is what she would like to have everyone believe. In reality, Mafuyu is a former gang leader (which are called 'banchou' in this series. That term will be coming up a lot in this app, by the way.)who got expelled from her first high school for fighting, and this is actually her second attempt at starting high school. Since her mother has made it very clear that she will be disowned from the family if she gets expelled again, it is in her best interests to be nothing short of the best student she can be.

Unfortunately, because of her record, most high schools won't take Mafuyu in. The one school that does is Midori Ga Oka Academy, a private high school with such a terrible reputation that they will take any student, so long as they can pay the tuition fee. Because of that, this school is full of delinquents and trouble-makers, which is just screaming for Mafuyu to get in trouble again. But surprisingly, she manages to avoid trouble at first, and nobody even suspects that she is anything but a kind, friendly girl.

That lasts for maybe a day tops. See, Mafuyu's homeroom teacher is Takaomi Saeki, Mafuyu's former nextdoor neighbor and a former delinquent himself. He shaped up just enough to make it through college and become a teacher, but a lot of his old bad habits still remain, and he instantly latches on to Mafuyu, making her his lackey. He ends up dragging her into his personal affairs, one of which is a bet with the high school principal: In three years, he will double the enrollment numbers for Midori Ga Oka Academy, or else he will forfeit five years of his salary.

And he ends up roping Mafuyu into helping him with this, because of course he does.

Over the first 40 or so chapters, Mafuyu makes friends with some of her classmates, and she starts working on helping to improve the school's reputation. First off, she and her classmate Hayasaka end up forming the Disciplinary Committee, with Takaomi as their teacher advisor. Normally members of the Disciplinary Committee do things like hall monitor duty and such, but this Disciplinary Committee is really just a front for Takaomi's plans. Their first task is to break up one big gang of troublemakers, which Mafuyu accomplishes by wearing a disguise and defeating their leader, who is referred to as the 'Banchou'. This in turn makes Mafuyu's alter ego the new Banchou, and the first thing she does is order the group to go to class and stop causing trouble. Then she befriends the old Banchou and he becomes an ally of sorts to the Disciplinary Committee (he does join eventually, but not until much, much later).

After the summer break, Mafuyu comes back to find that the student council has joined this fight, siding with the school principal. That is also where Takaomi finally tells her the truth about his bet: see, the school sits on some very valuable land, and the principal is purposefully letting the delinquent students run amok to drive out the students and drive down the price of the land, so that he can make an inside deal with a company and get filthy rich from selling the land. Takaomi's grandfather was the founder of the school, and because of this he has a sentimental attachment to it, so he doesn't want to see it get sold and torn down. The real prize isn't the five years' salary, but actually the rights to the school itself. If the student population doubles, Takaomi becomes the new owner of the school. If the student population does not double, the school will be sold.

From there, the series becomes an 'enemy of the week' manga, with each story arc covering how the Disciplinary Committee overcomes an obstacle set by the student council. With each defeat, Mafuyu ends up befriending the member of the student council she was fighting against, and ever so slowly she starts winning people over with her A+ personality. For example, one member of the student council spreads rumors to another school that drive the kids at that school to come to Midori Ga Oka looking for a fight, right when an important cultural festival is happening. Mafuyu and her friends save the day there by discreetly beating up the invading students and kicking them out of the school. Then another member of the student council threatens to have their club shut down during club registration week, and the group has to spend countless hours making sure all of their records and paperwork are pristine so that she has no reason to reject them. Then there's another one who tries to get the Disciplinary Committee beat up off of school property by tricking them into an ambush, but they manage to escape that too. Another attempt involves espionage and blackmail. Each challenge tests not only Mafuyu's limits, but also her bonds with her friends.

Also, while all of this is going on, Mafuyu has to constantly fight in disguises or sneak around to avoid being caught. See, she's already been expelled from one school, and that black mark on her record means that if she's involved in any trouble-making then she will be kicked out of Midori Ga Oka as well. And seeing as how she's one of the strongest fighters in the group, as well as one of the best at actually puzzling together what the student council is up to, the Disciplinary Committee would be in a lot of trouble if she were to be expelled.

As of chapter 100, Mafuyu is just finishing up the summer break of her second year of high school. Only two members of the student council are left: the vice-president and the president.

Appearance: When she is being normal, Mafuyu looks like this:

She tries her best to look like this:

But her attempts leave her looking more like this:

When she's dressed as Usa-Chan-Man, defender of justice, she looks like this:

And when she's fighting as Natsuo, the mysterious boy who happens to show up for fights, she looks like this:

Personality: In order to understand who Mafuyu is, you first have to understand that she is extremely contradictory. She has this idea of how a proper high-school girl should act, and she tries to act just like that. In her mind, high-school girls are always kind, soft-spoken, use only the gentlest language, and literally sparkle.

Yes, she gets her ideas of how high-school girls should act from shoujo manga. This is actually a thing that is shown in canon.

And to be fair, Mafuyu does a pretty good job of acting like this ultra-shiny high-school girl, when she is thinking about it. She has managed to fool all of her 'normal' classmates (IE the ones not involved in the Disciplinary Committee or the student council, or the fights between the two groups), and if someone was to ask any of them their opinions of her, they would say "she's nice, but a little weird."

See, the problem is that Mafuyu is only a good actor when she is thinking about it. When she is not thinking about it, she goes back to her usual, rough-talking, not-at-all-girly self. (In the original version, the author shows this difference by having her use 'watashi' (a polite way of saying 'I') when she is trying to be girly, and 'ore' (a very rough and masculine way of saying 'I') when she is acting normal. In the scans I read, they used a special curly font for girly-speak, and then the regular font for her normal speak.) This Mafuyu is very dense, and is sometimes difficult to approach just because her face looks a little scary. It is part of what helped build up her reputation at her previous school: the 'tough guys' thought she looked tough, so they tried to beat her up, and after she beat them up instead they swore their loyalty to her.

Make no mistake, Mafuyu is definitely a tough teenager. She has been fighting since she was little, and if anyone threatens her or her friends she will be the first to jump in and teach them a lesson. However, the mistake a lot of people make over the course of the series is in assuming that Mafuyu is a threat. Mafuyu may be tough, but she is the type to use her strength to defend, rather than attack. She doesn't actually want to fight most of the time, and she usually only beats people up because they attacked first or because she has to fight to solve some problem. And even then, when she does fight, she tries to do the least amount of damage she can, trying instead to end the fight quickly without permanently hurting anyone. This is noted by at least two separate people, both of whom became allies of hers afterward.

Even though Mafuyu is tough and will clean your clock if it's required, she is the type who will figure out why you are looking for a fight with her, and instead try to fix your problems, rather than fight. And even if a fight happens, she will still try to fix whatever problem there is. See, she understands that people are rarely as one-dimensional as they seem, and that there is always a reason for their actions. When she was betrayed by a close friend, she figured out there had to be a reason for it, so instead of being angry at him she begged him to tell her why he did that, and asked him to come back and be friends again. (The situation was complicated, but basically it was that someone he was indebted to had ordered him to betray everyone, so he had.) In her mind, there are reasons for every action, so if she can figure out the reasoning behind those actions then she can take care of any trouble at the source, hopefully fixing the problem she has as well in the process.

And even if the problem isn't an easy one to solve, or if it doesn't directly benefit her, Mafuyu will still try to help. Mafuyu has a streak of kindness in her wider than a four-lane highway. She has, on several occasions, gone out of her way to help someone that she has no reason to help. A perfect example of this is when one of the student council members starts spreading rumors about the boys from a nearby high school causing trouble for the girls from Midori Ga Oka. The Banchou of that school doesn't take kindly to the rumors, so he kidnaps the student council member. Seeing as how the Disciplinary Committee just needs the student council out of their way, and that this girl being kidnapped would have actually helped Mafuyu (especially since, not even two chapters prior, this girl had done some pretty awful things to Mafuyu-disguised-as-Natsuo, and thinking "she got what she deserved" would have been understandable). But no, as soon as she hears that this girl is in trouble, Mafuyu immediately jumps in to action, going to the other school and fighting off waves and waves of attackers (with the help of some friends, of course) to go and rescue this girl. That's just the kind of person Mafuyu is: if someone is in danger, even if they are an enemy, she will do everything she can to help them.

That said, Mafuyu doesn't exactly go about the whole 'being kind' and 'helping others' thing in a conventional way. Even though she is kind and wants to help, she's still Mafuyu, and Mafuyu can be irritable at times. It's part of what helped her get her reputation in the first place. She can be happy and have fun and be normal, but the moment someone starts pressing her buttons, she gets snappy and starts with the whole 'yelling and comedic violence' routine that is often present in certain kinds of manga. She might try her best to be good, but she still won't take shit from anyone.

Well, if she recognizes that people are giving her shit, at least. Mafuyu is…lacking in some areas, to put it gently. She's spent years as a banchou, and most of her school life has been spent being a delinquent, which means goofing off during school and doing vaguely-rule-breaking things. To say Mafuyu hasn't had a normal childhood would be an understatement. She doesn't really know much about being a normal high-school student, having gleaned everything she knows from manga, so she definitely misses out on social cues at times. Rough language and punching, she understands; passive-aggressive comments disguised as compliments, she does not. She's also a bit too forward with the whole NORMAL FRIEND-MAKING EXPERIENCES YAY thing, and can creep people out at times because of it. She doesn't mean ill, it's just that she is an awkwardturtle who is a bit too enthusiastic.

Sometimes people misunderstand her, too. It's more of a running gag, but frequently Mafuyu will be feeling one thing but others will see her facial expression and assume something else. Like in the second chapter, Mafuyu's legs are falling asleep in her chair and it's making her uncomfortable, but Hayasaka (the boy who sits next to her, who is also a delinquent and one of the toughest kids in school) feels the irritation radiating off of her and assumes it's because she hates school and wants to beat someone up. Later on, when Mafuyu and Hayasaka go to fight Midori Ga Oka's banchou, she sees all of the other delinquents backing him up, and she is moved to tears by their display of friendship. But everyone else thinks she is crying because she's scared, and they try to cheer her up and make her feel better. Mafuyu wears her heart on her sleeve, so anyone can see how she's feeling. It's just that sometimes those feelings are misinterpreted by those around her.

Mafuyu is also lacking in the whole 'school smarts' area. She is an absolute failure of a student, and even though she is trying to be better, years of slacking off have given her horrible study skills. She doesn't focus well during class, her notes are awful (she keeps notes for all six of her subjects in one notebook) , and she has trouble retaining any of the knowledge taught in class. One story arc is focused entirely on trying to find a way to get her to pass exams, as she has to get a high enough score not to be kicked off of the Disciplinary Committee for academic reasons. Her head is basically empty of any actual school knowledge, and any attempts to fill that void are about as futile as Sisyphus' attempts to push that rock up that hill.

There are more important parts to high-school life than actually learning anything, though. Like hanging out with friends, or going to arcades, or doing fun activities, things like that. Instead of focusing on the negative, Mafuyu spends all her effort trying to do things she does enjoy, even if it's as simple as eating lunch with a friend. And because she focuses on the good things, no matter how small they are, Mafuyu is perpetually in a good mood. As long as she has friends, and as long as she can do things with those friends, Mafuyu will never be upset for long. Having fun is what she lives for.

Mafuyu is tough, kind, and a bit goofy too. She jumps from happy to upset to angry to happy again so quickly that sometimes it is difficult to take her seriously. But Mafuyu only means the best, and all she wants to do is enjoy her last few years of childhood, and hopefully make a few friends along the way.

Abilities: Mafuyu is a completely normal human being, so she has no supernatural abilities or superpowers of any kind. All of the abilities she has are things any normal human could learn with enough training or practice.

Mafuyu is a very skilled fighter. She's basically been beating people up since 2nd grade (when she told her neighbor Takaomi that kids at her school took her stuffed bunny, he told her to 'go beat them up.' And then he timed her while she did it), so all of the years of practice have made her very good at it. That said, she doesn't really have a set style or anything. It's more that she's been street brawling for ages, and she uses anything that works. It's a very unrefined style, but it works for her. She is pretty good at any physical skill: fighting, running, dodging sudden attacks, endurance, and so forth.

Along with her physical skills, Mafuyu has a good sense of the 'mood' of a fight. She can tell when someone is thinking violent thoughts, or when they are about to attack, even if she can't directly see them. It is hard to catch her off-guard because of this.

One final skill Mafuyu is good at is, surprisingly, disguise and voice manipulation. She has, so far, made her voice sound like four entirely different people (Usa-Chan-Man, Natsuo, someone's 'spirit guardian', and 'a random school girl who is not Mafuyu'), and she has done it so well that only a few people know her secrets, and those few people only know because of unfortunate mistakes (one accidentally ripped her Natsuo wig off in the middle of a fight) or because she already told them (one of her friends is an excellent makeup artist, and he helps her make her disguises look more convincing).

Other: Mafuyu has two secret identities: Usa-Chan-Man and Natsuo. In reality they're just costumes she wears to avoid getting in trouble when she has to fight, but I figured they are worth mentioning because if she does ever have to fight in Holly Heights she will probably try to find some way to make one of the costumes there (or make a new one entirely).

When acting as Usa-Chan-Man, she does a very over-the-top (even for her) 'defender of justice' act, not unlike what you would expect of a superhero. For Natsuo, she acts really rough and tough, like what a delinquent boy would act like.

SAMPLES;
First Person: [Normal people might be bothered by being told they have been taken from their home world and brought to somewhere else entirely. Normal people might be bothered by suddenly speaking a language other than their own. Normal people might have important thoughts on their mind, like how to get home, or how to survive in this unusual place.]

Hey! I heard there is a high school here. What is it like? Is it full of vibrant youth, all experiencing the joys and sorrows of high school life for the first time? Are their hearts aflutter with the gentle beats of love, or perhaps enflamed with the passion of after-school activities?

[Suffice to say, Mafuyu is anything but normal.]

Oh, and are they friendly too? I really want to go there and see for myself, but I don't have the school uniform yet. This 'landlord' person did not leave me a set, so I have to go out and get it myself. I mean, I've got my old uniform, but that's not enough, right? It might be different here, and walking into a school with the wrong uniform…

[She trails off there, and her gaze looks distant, like she has negative experiences with this.]

That would be a declaration of war.

Third Person: High School Debut, take three!

Mafuyu was content to narrate her trek towards the school, practically skipping along as she hummed to herself. Sure, she was technically a second-year—no, an 11th grader, she had to remind herself again that the school years went different here—but there was no reason why she couldn't make a third grand entrance, right? She had gotten herself mixed up in messes the two previous times, so maybe this one would bring her the life she had been looking for.

And here we have none other than Mafuyu Kurosaki—it still felt weird to think of herself like that, with personal name first, but somehow the language kept getting scrambled in her head. Best to just roll with it—the ultra-shiny new student! Watch as she gracefully makes her way up the stairs to the entry way, her beautiful brown hair flowing behind her, wooing all the boys as she walks by!

Holding her head up high turned out to be the problematic part, as she misjudged her step and tripped on the stairs, landing face-first against the top stair. She stayed there for a moment, wondering just how many people had seen her blunder, before she jumped up and bolted into the school.

---

Here we have Mafuyu, stepping into her first class, and immediately gaining the attention of her classmates with her beautiful introduction!

She opened the door, and she confidently strutted in, taking large strides as she walked. Once she was even with the teacher's desk, she stopped and turned to face the class. Then she took a deep bow, and in the sweetest, kindest voice she could muster, she said her introduction. "Greetings, my name is Mafuyu Kurosaki. I am new here, so I hope we can all get along! I can't wait to get to know all of you!"

The class is wowed by her grace and charm!

Most of the students in the class just stared at her, and a couple even snickered. Suffice to say, they were less than impressed.

With her introduction done, the graceful beauty takes her seat and prepares herself for her first class of the day.

With just as much enthusiasm as before, Mafuyu walked to her seat. Just as before, with her head held high, she missed an obstacle in her way. In this case, it was one of the desks, and when her knee hit it she doubled over in pain as she screeched out, "MOTHERFU-"

She cut herself off mid-curse, though, and quickly recovered. "Ahahahaha, I mean, oh gosh, that hurt a little!"

---
With the day done, the elegant Mafuyu prepares herself for the most important task of the day: making friends!

Just outside the front doors of the school, Mafuyu stopped to look around. But as soon as she stopped, she felt the intense pressure of an incoming danger, and she side-stepped as a baseball went whizzing by her head. A half-second later, she remembered that a normal girl wouldn't be able to dodge something like that, so she promptly 'fell over' to make it look like she had been hit or startled by it or something.

But when nobody came looking for the ball, Mafuyu just stood up. No point in pretending to be maybe-hurt if nobody saw it, right? Instead, she decided to go solve the mystery of the flying baseball. With the baseball in hand, Mafuyu walked in the direction it had come from, and eventually she traced it back to a group of boys playing baseball nearby. They must have had extras, since they didn't seem to notice that theirs was gone entirely.

Mafuyu couldn't bring herself to interrupt their game, though. They were all so intently focused on it, she couldn't find a moment to interrupt! No, all she could do was stand by the edge of the building, peeking around to watch.

Look at how graceful they all are! They must play a lot, they look like they're in shape. Not really muscular, that wouldn't help with baseball anyway, but lean and built for endurance. I bet it would be fun to be in a race with them.

While she was busy appreciating how in-shape the guys playing baseball were, she didn't hear one of the guys say, "Who is that creepy girl watching us, anyway?"

Nor did she hear another say, "I think she has a crush on you, look at how she's staring at you!"

And she definitely didn't hear the first one respond with, "Eew, no! She's way too weird!"
